How to measure cattle
Measure heart girth around the chest just behind the front legs. Measure body length from the point of the shoulder to the pin bone. The estimate uses girth × girth × length ÷ 300, with measurements in inches and the result in pounds. Breed, age and body shape can affect accuracy.
